One request, matched to the actual job

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Colombia marine survey locations

Plan the survey around Colombia’s coasts and waterways

Colombia has two coasts, offshore islands and major navigable rivers. The capitanía, marina, terminal, yard or anchorage and the local access contact must be specified before a surveyor is routed.

Cartagena & Bolívar

Cartagena · Manga · Mamonal · nearby yards

Separate marina or yacht-yard work from controlled industrial terminals. Confirm lift, mast handling, agent and trial area.

Find a surveyor in this region

Santa Marta & Caribbean east

Santa Marta · Barranquilla · Puerto Colombia

State marina, river or commercial-port access. Wind and swell can affect trials and haul-out schedules.

Find a surveyor in this region

San Andrés & Caribbean islands

San Andrés · Providencia · island anchorages

Island flights, launches, weather and limited specialist facilities should be scoped separately.

Find a surveyor in this region

Pacific coast

Buenaventura · Tumaco · Pacific project sites

High tides, heavy rainfall and controlled facilities require agent, access and safe-transfer planning.

Find a surveyor in this region

Inland rivers & lakes

Magdalena River · Cauca waterways · inland reservoirs

Identify the river kilometre, town, ramp or yard and whether the vessel can be presented ashore.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What details are needed for a Colombia marine survey?

Provide vessel particulars, exact marina, port, island, river or yard, survey purpose and deadline, local contact, report recipient and any haul-out, trial or specialist requirement.

Is a private survey a Dimar inspection?

No. Dirección General Marítima registers, inspects, classifies and certifies Colombian vessels and naval craft. A private buyer, insurer, lender or owner survey is separate.

Who may perform Colombian statutory inspections?

Dimar states that its inspection function uses inspectors, delegated organizations and licensed maritime experts. Dimar must confirm the correct appointment and certificate scope.

Can a surveyor attend San Andrés or the Pacific coast?

Potentially. Flights, launches, accommodation, security, weather contingency and repeat attendance should be priced for the exact location.

Is Spanish-language reporting required?

It depends on the recipient. Spanish is important for local authorities and facilities, while a foreign buyer or insurer may request English or bilingual reporting.

Are access, travel and yard costs included?

Only if listed. Agents, passes, flights, launches, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper and testing can be separate.

Can you help with commercial and specialist work?

Potentially. Fishing, damage, machinery, cargo, ultrasound and on-hire or off-hire assignments require suitable experience and any Dimar, flag, class or client acceptance.
