Independent marine surveyor matching
Marine surveys across South Korea

Find the right marine surveyor for your boat in South Korea

Request an independent marine surveyor for a yacht, boat or commercial vessel in South Korea. Matching starts with the exact marina, harbour, shipyard or construction site, vessel and assignment, Korean-language coordination, access and haul-out plan and whether the work is private or must satisfy KOMSA, an insurer, lender, flag or class.

South Korea-wide planningMarina or shipyard access, local language, travel and KOMSA acceptance are scoped separately.

One request, matched to the actual job

A pre-purchase inspection is not the same assignment as a tonnage measurement or commercial-code survey. We keep the scope clear from the beginning.

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

South Korea marine survey locations

Plan the survey around South Korea’s coasts and waterways

South Korea has dense commercial shipbuilding, smaller-craft facilities and island locations. Survey planning should identify the actual yard or berth, security and induction contact, vessel status and whether the assignment spans construction, afloat inspection and trials.

Busan & Ulsan

Busan · Ulsan · southeast shipyards and marinas

Distinguish recreational marina work from commercial shipyard attendance. Confirm visitor approval, safety induction, drawings access, photography rules and the inspection milestone.

Incheon & northwest

Incheon · Seoul-area marinas · Gyeonggi coast

Tidal range and lock or harbour schedules can affect afloat work. State the facility, local contact, haul-out slot and whether sea trials are permitted.

Geoje, Yeosu & south coast

Geoje · Tongyeong · Yeosu · Mokpo

The south coast includes islands and major yards. Give the exact city and facility, nearest transport hub and whether separate attendances are required.

Jeju

Jeju City · Seogwipo · island harbours

Island travel and weather need separate planning. Confirm airport transfer, safe boarding, lift availability and contingency for sea trials.

Pohang & east coast

Pohang · Donghae · Sokcho · east-coast facilities

State whether the vessel is in a fishing harbour, marina, industrial port or yard. Controlled sites require the responsible operator to arrange access.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What details are needed for a South Korea survey quote?

Provide vessel particulars, exact marina, harbour, shipyard or construction site, purpose and deadline, Korean-speaking contact, report recipient and any haul-out, trial or specialist requirement.

Is a private yacht survey the same as a KOMSA inspection?

No. Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority conducts ship inspection under South Korean safety law. A private pre-purchase, insurance or valuation survey does not replace a statutory inspection.

Can any surveyor complete statutory or registration work?

No assumption should be made. KOMSA, the flag administration or another accepting body must confirm who may inspect, which standards apply and what certificate or report is required.

Can a surveyor attend a commercial shipyard?

Potentially, with yard approval. The client should arrange visitor clearance, safety induction, protective equipment, drawings access, photography permission and an escort where required.

Is Korean-language support important?

It can be essential for yard and marina coordination, records and safety briefings. Tell us whether a bilingual owner, broker, builder or agent will be available.

Are domestic travel and yard charges included?

Only if listed in the quotation. Rail, flights, ferries, accommodation, entry, lift, wash, relaunch, sea-trial costs and specialist testing can be separate.

Can you help with new-build and specialist assignments?

Potentially. New-build supervision, repair monitoring, machinery, ultrasound, damage, delivery acceptance and commercial condition work require the appropriate specialist and any client or class approval.

Prefer to speak with us?
