Independent marine surveyor matching
Marine surveys across Madagascar

Find the right marine surveyor for your boat in Madagascar

Request an independent marine surveyor for a yacht, catamaran, fishing craft, workboat or commercial vessel in Madagascar. Matching starts with the exact port, island, anchorage or yard, vessel and survey purpose, long-distance travel and local support, haul-out plan and whether the work is private or must satisfy APMF, insurer, lender, flag or class.

Madagascar-wide planningMadagascar’s scale, island transfers and uneven facilities make the exact port and inspection plan essential.

One request, matched to the actual job

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Madagascar marine survey locations

Plan the survey around Madagascar’s coasts and waterways

Madagascar’s survey locations are widely dispersed around a very large coastline. Nosy Be, Antsiranana, Toamasina, the west coast and the south each need separate travel, harbour, weather and lifting checks.

Nosy Be & northwest islands

Hell-Ville · Crater Bay · Nosy Be · nearby islands

Confirm anchorage or marina, launch transfer, local yard or slipway, tides and cyclone-season contingency.

Antsiranana & northeast

Antsiranana · Diego Suarez · northern bays

State the commercial-port, yard or anchorage location and access sponsor. Travel from the nearest airport is separate.

Find a surveyor in this region

Toamasina & east coast

Toamasina · Sainte-Marie · east-coast ports

Differentiate controlled commercial-port work from island or smaller-harbour attendance. Confirm agent and safe transfer.

Mahajanga & west coast

Mahajanga · Morondava · west-coast harbours

Tides, river approaches and limited lifting can constrain inspection. Provide draft, vessel mobility and ashore arrangements.

Toliara & south

Toliara · Fort-Dauphin · southern ports

Long domestic travel and remote support need explicit pricing, accommodation and weather contingency.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Madagascar marine survey?

Provide vessel particulars, exact port, island, anchorage or yard, survey purpose and deadline, local contact, report recipient and any haul-out, trial or specialist requirement.

Is a private survey an APMF inspection?

No. The Agence Portuaire Maritime et Fluviale administers maritime and port functions and regional offices. A buyer, insurer, lender or owner survey is separate.

Where does APMF have regional offices?

APMF lists regional offices including Antsiranana, Toamasina, Mahajanga, Nosy Be, Sainte-Marie, Morondava, Fort-Dauphin and Toliara. Current official procedures should be confirmed with the relevant office.

Can one surveyor cover the whole country?

Potentially, but distances are substantial. Domestic flights, road or launch travel, accommodation and repeat attendance should be scoped by location.

How do weather and tides affect the survey?

Cyclone exposure, swell, tidal range and remote-anchorages can affect haul-out, boarding and trials. A safe contingency should be agreed.

Are travel and haul-out costs included?

Only if listed. Flights, road or launch transfers, accommodation, agent support, lift or slipway, wash and relaunch can be separate.

Can you help with catamarans, fishing and specialist work?

Potentially. Multihulls, fishing vessels, damage, machinery, rig, ultrasound and repair monitoring need suitable expertise and facility access.
