One request, matched to the actual job

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Plan the survey around Nigeria’s coasts and waterways

Nigeria’s maritime work spans Lagos ports and marinas, Niger Delta terminals and eastern commercial ports. The operator, terminal, security and transport plan, vessel schedule and formal report recipient must be confirmed before travel.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Nigeria marine survey?

Provide vessel particulars, exact port, terminal, creek, yard or project site, survey purpose and deadline, local agent or operator, access plan and intended report recipient.

Is a private survey a NIMASA flag-state survey?

No. NIMASA administers Nigerian ship registration, inspection and certification. A buyer, insurer, lender or owner survey is a separate private assignment.

Who may conduct Nigerian statutory surveys?

NIMASA states that statutory surveys are conducted by its Safety Department surveyors or authorized recognized organizations. Appointment must be confirmed for the specific certificate.

Does registration require survey and tonnage measurement?

NIMASA’s registration guidance calls for concurrent application for survey and a tonnage measurement certificate. The Ship Registry and survey unit must confirm the current vessel-specific requirements.

How is controlled-site access arranged?

The owner, manager or agent should confirm security, visitor passes, safe road or launch transfer, induction, protective equipment and photography or device rules.

Are agent, travel and yard costs included?

Only if listed. Security, passes, domestic travel, launches, accommodation, lift, wash, relaunch and testing can be separate.

Can you help with offshore and commercial assignments?

Potentially. Offshore-support vessels, damage, machinery, cargo, repair monitoring and on-hire or off-hire surveys require suitable experience and any NIMASA, flag, class or client acceptance.
