Request an independent marine surveyor for a yacht, fishing craft, workboat, offshore vessel or commercial assignment in Ghana. Matching starts with the exact port, marina, lake or project site, vessel and survey purpose, agent and access arrangements, haul-out plan and whether the work is private or must satisfy the Ghana Maritime Authority, insurer, lender, flag or class.

One request, matched to the actual job

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Ghana marine survey locations

Plan the survey around Ghana’s coasts and waterways

Ghana’s marine work is concentrated around Tema and Takoradi, with separate logistics for Accra leisure craft, smaller fishing ports, offshore facilities and inland vessels. Confirm the berth, operator, access and report recipient before travel.

Tema & Accra coast

Tema · Accra · nearby marinas and yards

Differentiate controlled commercial-port access from marina or mooring work. Confirm agent, passes, boarding point and haul-out location.

Elmina · Cape Coast · Winneba

Fishing-harbour and beach-landing work can involve limited lifting and tidal access. State the craft type and safe inspection arrangement.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Ghana marine survey?

Provide vessel particulars, exact port, marina, lake or project site, survey purpose and deadline, local agent or operator, access plan and intended report recipient.

Is a private survey a Ghana Maritime Authority survey?

No. The Ghana Maritime Authority administers ship registration, statutory survey and certification. A buyer, insurer, lender or owner survey is a separate private assignment.

Who may conduct Ghanaian statutory surveys?

The Ghana Maritime Authority appoints its surveyors and may use recognized organizations for flag-state work. The Authority must confirm the appointment and certificate scope.

Does Ghana registration involve a survey?

Yes. The Authority’s published registration procedure includes a survey application and an appointed surveyor’s initial survey. Current vessel-specific requirements must be confirmed with the Registrar.

Can a surveyor attend Volta Lake or an offshore facility?

Potentially. Inland travel or offshore transfers, operator approval, accommodation and repeat attendance should be scoped separately.

Are access, travel and yard costs included?

Only if listed. Agent support, security, passes, road or launch travel, lift, wash, relaunch and testing can be separate.

Can you help with fishing and commercial vessels?

Potentially. Fishing craft, workboats, damage, machinery, ultrasound, cargo and on-hire or off-hire work require suitable expertise and acceptance.
