Independent marine surveyor matching
Marine surveys across Brunei

Find the right marine surveyor for your boat in Brunei

Request an independent marine surveyor for a yacht, boat, fishing craft, workboat or commercial vessel in Brunei. Matching starts with the exact marina, port, river berth or controlled facility, vessel and survey purpose, local access and haul-out arrangements and whether the work is private or must satisfy the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, insurer, lender, flag or class.

One request, matched to the actual job

How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Brunei marine survey locations

Plan the survey around Brunei’s coasts and waterways

Brunei’s boating locations are geographically close but operationally distinct. Muara commercial-port access, Brunei Bay marinas, river berths and Belait industrial sites require different visitor, agent and safety arrangements.

Muara & commercial port

Muara Port · Muara coast · controlled terminals

Commercial-port attendance needs advance agent or operator approval, security passes, safety induction and agreed equipment entry.

Brunei Bay & Serasa

Serasa · Brunei Bay · yacht and small-craft facilities

Provide the marina or berth, vessel dimensions and local contact. Confirm lift or slipway access and whether a sea trial can be arranged.

Find a surveyor in this region

Bandar Seri Begawan & river

Bandar Seri Begawan · Brunei River · river berths

State the landing or jetty, tide and boarding method. River traffic and limited shore access can constrain a full hull inspection.

Find a surveyor in this region

Belait, Kuala Belait & Seria

Kuala Belait · Seria · western industrial coast

Oil, gas and industrial facilities may require sponsor details and strict access controls. Identify the operator and inspection window before travel.

Find a surveyor in this region

Tutong & private locations

Tutong · private jetties · inland and coastal sites

Provide precise directions, permission and safe working space. Confirm whether the vessel can be moved to an approved yard for lifting.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What details are needed for a Brunei marine survey quote?

Provide vessel particulars, exact marina, port, river berth or facility, survey purpose and deadline, local sponsor or operator, report recipient and any haul-out, trial or specialist requirement.

Is a private condition survey an MPABD inspection?

No. The Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam administers boat and ship registration and statutory maritime functions. A buyer, insurer or owner survey is separate.

Must boats be registered in Brunei?

MPABD’s published boat-registration guide states that a boat must be registered with the Authority before use. The owner should confirm the current category, inspection and document requirements directly.

Can any surveyor complete Brunei flag or statutory work?

No. MPABD or the accepting body must confirm the appointed surveyor or organization, survey scope and certificate required for the vessel.

Can a surveyor enter a controlled industrial facility?

Potentially, with sponsor and operator approval. Arrange identification, passes, safety induction, protective equipment and equipment or photography clearance before attendance.

Are port access and haul-out included?

Only where listed in the quotation. Agent support, passes, local travel, lift or slipway, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist testing can be separate.

Can you help with workboat and specialist surveys?

Potentially. Fishing craft, offshore-support vessels, damage, machinery, ultrasound, repair monitoring and on-hire or off-hire surveys require appropriate expertise and acceptance.
