Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What details are needed for a Trinidad and Tobago marine survey?
Provide vessel particulars, exact island, marina, yard, terminal or anchorage, survey purpose and deadline, local contact, report recipient and any haul-out, trial or specialist requirement.
Is a private survey a Maritime Services Division survey?
No. The Maritime Services Division registers, licenses, surveys, inspects and certifies Trinidad and Tobago ships. A private survey is separate.
Does official registration involve survey and tonnage?
The Shipping Act provides for survey and tonnage ascertainment before registration, and the Division publishes government-appointed survey requirements. Confirm the current vessel-specific process.
Can a surveyor attend Tobago?
Potentially. Air or ferry travel, island transport, accommodation, weather and repeat attendance should be priced separately.
Can catamarans be hauled in Chaguaramas?
Facilities vary. Provide beam, displacement, draft and rig details and obtain written yard confirmation before the survey date.
Are yard and travel costs included?
Only if listed. Lift, wash, relaunch, mast work, skipper, technicians, Tobago travel and testing can be separate.
Can you help with offshore and commercial vessels?
Potentially. Offshore support, damage, machinery, cargo and on-hire or off-hire work require suitable experience and any authority, flag, class or client acceptance.
