What information is needed for a Jamaica marine survey?
Provide vessel particulars, exact harbour, marina, yard or anchorage, survey purpose and deadline, local contact, report recipient and any haul-out, trial or specialist requirement.
Is a private survey a Maritime Authority of Jamaica inspection?
No. The Maritime Authority of Jamaica performs statutory survey and inspection functions. A buyer, insurer, lender or owner survey is separate.
Does Jamaican registration require a pre-registration survey?
The Maritime Authority states that a vessel seeking Jamaican registration requires a pre-registration survey by a surveyor appointed by the administration. Current requirements must be confirmed with the registry.
Can an approved organization perform statutory work?
The Maritime Authority may use approved recognized organizations for specified statutory surveys. Formal authorization and scope must be confirmed for the vessel.
Can one surveyor cover the whole island?
Potentially. Road travel, accommodation, yard schedules and any repeat attendance should be included in the quotation.
Are travel and yard costs included?
Only if stated. Port access, travel, lift or slipway, wash, relaunch, skipper and testing can be separate.
Can you help with fishing and specialist assignments?
Potentially. Fishing craft, damage, machinery, ultrasound, repair monitoring and commercial work require suitable expertise and acceptance.
