Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What information is needed for a Pakistan marine survey?
Send vessel particulars, exact harbour, terminal, yard or coastal site, survey purpose and deadline, local access sponsor, report recipient and any haul-out, sea-trial, machinery or specialist requirement.
Is a private condition survey an official Pakistan vessel survey?
No. The Mercantile Marine Department is part of Pakistan’s Maritime Safety Administration and administers registration and statutory survey functions. A buyer or insurer survey is separate.
What does the Mercantile Marine Department require for fishing-boat registration?
Its published procedure includes measurement and engine survey, and states that fishing boats 12 metres or more require life-saving and fire-fighting appliance survey before the registration certificate is issued. Confirm current requirements for the craft.
Can any surveyor perform official measurement or safety work?
No assumption should be made. The Mercantile Marine Department or accepting authority must confirm the appointed surveyor, scope, forms, fees and certificates for registration or statutory work.
Can a surveyor attend Gwadar or another Makran port?
Potentially, subject to current access and travel feasibility. The request should include the local sponsor, facility, vessel schedule, safe boarding plan, transport and accommodation.
Are port access, travel and haul-out included?
Only if listed in the quotation. Agent support, security passes, flights or road travel, accommodation, lift or slipway, wash, relaunch and specialist testing can be separate.
