The Maldives is a dispersed island state. A location described only by resort or atoll can still involve domestic flights, speedboat transfers and limited lift options, so the island, harbour, transfer route and responsible operator must be confirmed.
Greater Malé
Confirm the harbour or yard rather than only the island. Thilafushi and other industrial facilities may require advance access, while marina or anchorage attendance needs a safe tender plan.

Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What details are needed for a Maldives marine survey quote?
Provide the vessel type and dimensions, atoll and exact island or yard, nearest airport, transfer plan, survey purpose and deadline, local operator contact and requirements for haul-out, trials or specialist testing.
Can a surveyor travel to any Maldivian atoll?
Potentially, subject to availability, weather and transport. Domestic flights, speedboat or seaplane transfers, accommodation and contingency time should be agreed before appointment.
Is a private survey the same as a Maldives local-vessel survey?
No. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation publishes separate Local Vessel Survey and Certification Regulations and registration rules. A private buyer or insurer survey does not replace that official process.
Can a report be used for registration or certification?
Only if the competent authority accepts the surveyor and scope for that purpose. Obtain the current regulation, application route and appointment requirement before the survey is commissioned.
Does a pre-purchase survey require haul-out?
Hull inspection ashore is usually valuable, but lift or slipway access varies by island. If the vessel cannot be hauled, the surveyor should state the limitations and any recommended follow-up inspection.
Are island transfers and accommodation included?
Only when the quotation says so. Flights, seaplanes, speedboats, accommodation, resort access, tenders, yard fees, lift, wash, relaunch and specialist testing can all be separate.
Can you help with safari vessels, resort craft and specialist work?
Potentially. Commercial condition, machinery, damage, repair monitoring, ultrasound, stability-related work and fleet assignments require the right experience and any official acceptance.
