Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What should a Qatar marine survey request include?
Send vessel particulars, the exact marina, harbour, yard or anchorage, survey purpose and deadline, local access contact, intended report recipient and any haul-out, sea-trial, machinery, rig or specialist requirements.
Is a private condition survey the same as a Qatar Ministry of Transport inspection?
No. A private pre-purchase, insurance or valuation survey does not replace an inspection or certificate required by the Ministry of Transport for registration, seaworthiness or another statutory purpose.
Which vessels use Qatar’s small-craft registration service?
The Ministry of Transport publishes a small-craft registration service for craft under 200 tons and lists ownership, identification, insurance and other supporting requirements. Confirm current eligibility and inspection steps directly for the vessel.
When is a recognized organization relevant?
For some larger-vessel registry and statutory applications, Qatar’s published services refer to certificates issued by a recognized organization. The Ministry or accepting party should confirm the applicable organization and document list before appointment.
Are marina access and haul-out included in the fee?
Only when expressly stated in the quotation. Marina permission, security passes, travel, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist testing may be arranged and charged separately.
Can the survey be completed afloat?
Some condition or valuation assignments can be completed afloat, but a pre-purchase scope normally benefits from inspection ashore and may include a sea trial. The limitations of any afloat-only inspection should be documented.
Can you help with specialist or commercial surveys in Qatar?
Potentially. Damage, machinery, ultrasound, workboat condition, repair monitoring, on-hire or off-hire and commercial compliance work require the right experience and any necessary authority or client acceptance.
