Before you appoint a marine surveyor
What information is needed for a Morocco marine survey quote?
Provide the exact marina, commercial port or yard, vessel particulars, construction, survey purpose and preferred date. Include the local access contact, launch status, haul-out and trial arrangements, report language and any insurer, lender, registry or authority requirement.
Is a private condition survey the same as a Moroccan port or flag inspection?
No. A buyer’s or insurer’s independent survey is a private contractual service. Port access, vessel registration and official safety or certification procedures remain with the competent Moroccan authorities and must be confirmed separately.
Who regulates Morocco’s port system?
Morocco’s National Ports Agency describes itself as the authority and regulator for the national port system established under Law 15-02. Its port information distinguishes commercial, passenger, fishing and recreational activities; the applicable facility and permissions should be checked directly.
Can one surveyor cover both Mediterranean and Atlantic Morocco?
Potentially, subject to availability and travel. Tangier, the Mediterranean coast, Casablanca and Agadir are distinct assignments, so the exact facility and dates are needed before a route can be quoted.
Can I request an English- or French-language report?
Yes, include the required language in the request. Confirm the final language, recipient, reliance rights and whether an Arabic or French authority form or translation is required for official use.
Are travel, port access, haul-out and sea-trial costs included?
Only when expressly included in the written quotation. Travel, accommodation, agent support, port access, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist testing can be separate.
