How it works

A practical route from request to inspection

The platform helps structure the enquiry and introduce suitable professionals. The selected surveyor remains responsible for agreeing scope, fee and terms with you.

1

Tell us about the yacht

Share the vessel, survey purpose, location, timing and any buyer or registry deadline.

2

We review the scope

We check geography, material, size, specialist needs and whether formal acceptance matters.

3

Receive a suitable introduction

Where available, we connect you with a surveyor whose stated capability fits the assignment.

4

Appoint independently

You compare the scope and terms, resolve conflicts and instruct the professional directly.

Important distinction

Professional membership is not automatic flag approval

For pre-purchase and condition work, competence, experience, insurance and independence are central. For tonnage, registration, coding or statutory work, the flag or accepting organisation may also require a specific appointment.

Georgia marine survey locations

Plan the survey around Georgia’s coasts and waterways

Georgia’s principal maritime assignments centre on Batumi and Poti, with other coastal and commercial facilities requiring separate access planning. State the exact berth or yard, local contact, security permission, vessel status, haul-out arrangements and intended report recipient.

Batumi & Adjara

Batumi · Gonio · Adjara coast

Batumi is a principal travel and maritime-services base, but leisure, commercial and repair access must be distinguished. Confirm local contact, berth permission, lifting and the sea-trial plan.

Poti & Samegrelo

Poti · Maltakva · Samegrelo coast

Port and industrial areas may be controlled. Provide the facility, agent or yard contact, security requirements and whether the vessel is safely accessible ashore and afloat.

Anaklia & north-west coast

Anaklia · Enguri coast · north-western locations

Facility capability and seasonal access must be confirmed rather than assumed. State the vessel’s exact position, draft, access route and available lifting support.

Kulevi & commercial facilities

Kulevi · Supsa · controlled terminals and yards

Commercial-terminal attendance requires prior authorisation and a defined technical scope. Confirm agent, security clearance, induction, equipment restrictions and working hours.

Inland waters

Reservoirs · lakes · rivers · storage facilities

Inland and trailered craft may have no conventional yacht yard. Give the municipality, road access, launch or storage arrangement and whether trials can be conducted safely.

Frequently asked questions

Before you appoint a marine surveyor

What information is needed for a Georgia marine survey quote?

Provide the exact port, marina, yard or inland location, vessel particulars, construction, survey purpose and preferred date. Include local access contact, launch status, haul-out and trial availability, report language and any insurer, lender, registry, class or Maritime Transport Agency requirement.

Is a private yacht survey the same as a Georgian flag inspection?

No. A buyer’s or insurer’s independent condition survey is separate from flag-state inspection, classification and statutory certification. Confirm the required route with Georgia’s Maritime Transport Agency and the accepting organisation.

Can any surveyor issue class or statutory certificates for a Georgian-flag vessel?

No. The Maritime Transport Agency states that ships engaged in international navigation must be supervised by an eligible classification society authorised to issue class and statutory certificates on behalf of Georgia. Its registration guidance also identifies circumstances requiring a pre-registration inspection.

Can a surveyor attend both Batumi and Poti?

Potentially, subject to availability, travel and access. Batumi, Poti and controlled commercial facilities are separate assignments, so provide the exact berth, responsible local contact and security requirements.

Can I request an English-language report?

Yes, include English in the request. Confirm the final language, recipient, reliance rights and whether Georgian forms or translations are required for official use.

Are travel, port-access and sea-trial costs included?

Only when expressly included in the surveyor’s written quotation. Travel, agent support, security access, lift, wash, relaunch, skipper, fuel and specialist testing can be separate.

Can you help with specialist marine survey assignments?

Potentially. Repair monitoring, sea trials, ultrasound, corrosion testing, stability-related work, accident investigation, marine warranty and commercial handover surveys require the right specialist and any necessary formal appointment.
